Where History Meets Home

Located in Greenville County,

Located in Greenville County, Homestead at Hartness is owned by the Hartness family, who purchased the land from Hoke Smith in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Smith, who had owned the property since the 1940s, raised cattle and offered the land to the public for fishing. For over 30 years, the Hartness family have used the picturesque setting to host charity events in an effort to be stewards of both the land and the community.

Coveted for its stunning beauty and wonderful location, the property has long been sought after by companies looking to build resort quality golf course communities and new town-center developments. Yet, the Hartness family felt such developments wouldn't truly honor the land, and thus decided to pursue their own unique vision of developing the property as a charming community of cottages for rent. In 2014, their vision became reality - in the form of Homestead at Hartness.
